Quality surveillance across a combined brownfield and greenfield scope at Kharg Island’s marine oil terminal, supporting Japanese EPC contractor Taisei Corporation across the T-Jetty, Azarpad Platform, and Storage Tanks facilities.
On the brownfield side, scope included preventive maintenance monitoring of fixed equipment and piping, repair and replacement of piping, valves, and equipment, and corrosion monitoring of piping, piles, and jetty structures within a live, operating marine terminal, all executed under strict HSE controls inherent to brownfield conditions.
New construction scope covered API 650 floating-roof storage tanks, including 1,000,000-barrel and 500,000-barrel capacity units, along with pile driving and jetty expansion works.
Surveillance included welding qualification and procedure review (WPS, PQR, WPQT), inspection and test plan compliance, mechanical, vacuum, and oil leak testing, hydrostatic and pneumatic testing, and tank foundation settlement verification through to punch-list closure, ensuring mechanical integrity and code compliance prior to tank commissioning.
Coating and corrosion-protection inspection formed a core part of the assignment, spanning surface preparation per SSPC and ISO standards, environmental condition monitoring, and film thickness and cure verification across high-performance coating systems including epoxy, glass-flake epoxy, polyurethane, coal tar, and silicone-based systems suited for marine, high-humidity, tidal zone, and UV-exposed service.
Inspection also covered pipe wrapping and corrosion-protection systems, adhesion and destructive testing, and overcoating interval verification to confirm long-term coating performance and asset integrity in a highly corrosive marine environment.
