Resident Vendor Surveillance & Manufacturing Quality Assurance

Resident vendor surveillance and manufacturing quality assurance for the fabrication of 80 pressure vessels (6–95 mm wall thickness) supporting one of the largest gas development projects in the world.

Coverage spanned the full manufacturing cycle, from raw material receipt and traceability through final shipment, applying ASME II, V, VIII (Div. 1 & 2), and IX, along with ASTM and NACE standards, across a range of pressure vessel materials including SA516, SA537, SA240 (TP304L/316L), SA350, SA182, SA333, SA105, SA106, SA312, and SA403.

Quality oversight included evaluation of the manufacturer’s QC systems and procedures, review of welder and welding procedure qualifications (WPS/PQR), and verification of Inspection and Test Plans against contractual hold and witness points.

Welding inspection and monitoring covered preheat, heat input, and weld condition, alongside rolling and forming checks, weld overlay (316L clad) and buttering (Inconel) inspection, and PMI.

Manufacturing verification extended through NDT (RT, UT, MT, PT), PWHT condition checks, hardness testing, chemical analysis, ferrite determination, and destructive testing including tensile, impact, and bending tests, supported by dimensional, visual, and hydrostatic/pneumatic testing verification.

Surveillance continued through final inspection, painting and shipping, with daily and weekly progress reporting maintained throughout the assignment.

All activities culminated in review and approval of Manufacturer’s Data Reports (MDR), ensuring full traceability and code compliance for safety-critical pressure equipment delivered into a multi-billion-dollar EPC program.
