Acting as a third-party inspector for two concurrent EPC clients, providing QA/QC inspection and vendor surveillance services for piping, pressure vessels, mechanical equipment, HVAC systems, and ASME Section VIII weld overlay pressure vessel manufacturing across fabrication facilities in Quebec, Canada.
Vendor engagement and material control commenced with Pre-Inspection Meetings to confirm ITP requirements, hold and witness points, documentation obligations, and fabrication sequencing prior to production release.
Material verification included traceability control, Material Test Reports, WPS and PQR compliance, welder qualifications, NDT procedures and reports, RT film interpretation records, and calibration certifications.
In-process inspection activities encompassed material receiving, fit-up verification, welding surveillance, visual, penetrant, and magnetic particle examinations, PMI verification of stainless steel base materials and weld overlays, ferrite number testing, and witnessing of production welding qualification tests, supported by final visual and dimensional inspections.
Final acceptance activities included pad (repad) leak testing using soap solution, witnessed hydrostatic pressure testing, drying, and passivation, followed by surface preparation inspection to SSPC-SP5 and SSPC-SP10 standards, salt contamination testing, and environmental condition monitoring.
Coating inspection included wet and dry film thickness measurements and adhesion testing in accordance with ASTM D3359 and ISO 2409 requirements.
Final documentation responsibilities included review of Manufacturing Data Reports (MDRs), verification of final documentation package completeness, and confirmation of shipment readiness, including nameplate verification, digital release packages, QR-coded documentation, and packing lists.
The scope also included preparation of inspection reports, Observation Reports, and Nonconformance Reports, ensuring full traceability, code compliance, and quality assurance throughout the fabrication and documentation lifecycle.
